Crossref / Search scholarly works (DOI metadata)

Searches Crossref's 170M+ DOI records (journal articles, books, chapters, conference papers, preprints, datasets) by free text, author, or bibliographic string, with Crossref filters. Answer: message.total-results and message.items, each with DOI, title, author (given, family, ORCID), issued date, container-title (journal), publisher, type, URL, is-referenced-by-count (citations), ISSN, subject and license. filter takes Crossref filter syntax, e.g. from-pub-date:2024-01-01,type:journal-article,has-orcid:true. Up to 50 works per call; use offset for more (up to 10,000). Metadata from Crossref (crossref.org), supplied by its member publishers; bibliographic metadata is free to reuse, abstracts can carry the publisher's copyright and are left out of search results. Free, no key.
