Use the MCP config generator here

It runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, there is no signup and no limit.

Loading the tool.

Run it from your agent

Copy one prompt, give it to your agent.

Fill in the placeholder, paste it, and the agent runs the same job with current data on your looot account and shows the cost.

  • You give it: a server name and a remote url or a local command.
  • Billed per call, nothing while your agent is idle.
  • The agent shows the price before it calls.
Prompt: MCP config generator
Use looot to connect its MCP server to my coding agent. 1. Read https://looot.ai/skill.md and follow its setup section. 2. Add the server https://api.looot.ai/mcp to my client's MCP config with browser sign-in, no token in the file. 3. Sign in when the browser opens. 4. Check my balance through the server and tell me the server shows as connected.

What comes back

What your agent gets from mcp server config

Field names as the providers return them. The exact set varies by endpoint, and your agent reads it from the catalog.

  • config block per client
  • file path
  • terminal add command
  • sign-in steps

Use it for

What people do with mcp server config

  • Add a server fast

Skip the docs hunt. Copy the block your client expects and paste it.

  • Keep tokens out of git

Token setups read an environment variable or a prompt, so the secret never sits in the file.

  • Move between clients

Use the same server in Claude Code at work and Cursor at home without rewriting the config.

  • Connect looot

The default fills in looot's MCP server, so your agent can search and run catalog endpoints.

Set up once

Three steps. Your agent does the rest.

FAQ

Questions about mcp server config

Run claude mcp add with --transport http, a name and the URL, or put the block in .mcp.json at your project root. The generator writes both. Claude Code needs "type": "http" next to the URL in the file.

On macOS it is ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json, on Windows %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json. The file takes local commands. Remote servers are added in Settings, Connectors.

VS Code's mcp.json uses the top-level key servers and needs a type on every entry. Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf use mcpServers. Codex uses TOML with mcp_servers tables.

Pick Bearer token. Claude Code, Cursor and Windsurf read it from an environment variable, Codex reads it through bearer_token_env_var, and VS Code asks for it once through an input and stores it.

A remote server runs at a URL and the client talks to it over HTTP. A local server is a command the client starts on your machine and talks to over stdio.

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account and sends nothing anywhere.

Each shape was checked against the client's own MCP docs on 2026-10-14. Clients change their files often, so check the client's docs if a field is rejected.

Keep the default. It fills in https://api.looot.ai/mcp with browser sign-in, so the file holds no token. After you sign in, your agent can search the catalog and run endpoints.

Run mcp server config from your own agent.

Start your workspace, top up, and paste the prompt into the agent you already use. It runs the job with live data and shows the cost first.
