Is there a free Mention alternative?

looot has no monthly seat. You pay per call to the provider you pick, and the catalog shows each endpoint's price before you run it. Whether that comes out cheaper than Mention depends on your volume.

What does Mention cost?

List prices change, so check Mention's own pricing page. This page does not repeat them. The looot side is read live from the catalog on the web version of this page.

What is a good Mention alternative for an AI agent?

An agent with a looot connection can call the providers behind Mention's data jobs directly. The providers used here are newsdata-io, brave-search, exa, tavily, linkup, searchapi-io, scrapecreators, tikhub, justoneapi.

Which Mention features does looot not cover?

Not covered: real-time alerts, shared team feed. Keep Mention for those, or use another tool beside looot.

How do I replace Mention with looot?

Paste the agent prompt on this page into your coding agent. It sets up looot, finds the endpoints for each job and runs them. You can edit the prompt to match your own inputs.

Do I need a Mention account to use looot?

No. looot calls its own providers and does not connect to your Mention account. Your existing Mention data stays where it is.

Your agent reads the looot setup file once, then runs the jobs below and shows each price first.

Prompt to replace Mention

Use looot to search news and the web for my keywords from the last 3 days and list new mentions with the source and a one-line summary. If you have not yet, set up https://looot.ai/skill.md first. Then search the looot catalog for each step, check the price of each endpoint before you call it, run the cheapest one that fits, and show me the results as a table.

Setup

One prompt, one price, one ledger

The same three steps every looot agent follows.

Paste one prompt into your agent

Set up looot

Done, looot is connected.

Copy one prompt from /connect into Claude Code, Cursor, or any MCP agent. No SDK, no dashboard click-through first.

Your agent finds the right operation

Hunter$0.0265

Exa$0.0090

Diffbot$0.0032

The agent finds the operation it needs and sees the price first. It calls nothing blind.

You watch what it cost

Hunter$0.0265

Exa$0.0090

Diffbot$0.0032

Total$0.0387

Every call settles for its quoted price and lands in the ledger. You always know what ran and what it cost.

Questions about replacing Mention

Partly. An agent running looot can do some of what Mention does through catalog endpoints, and the page marks the jobs it cannot do.
