# Company email format API for your agent

Company email format API for an agent: it sends a company domain to a catalog endpoint and reads email pattern such as first.last, share of addresses that use it and other patterns in use back. Several providers sell the call, so the agent tries the cheapest first. You pay per call, and a failed call costs nothing.

## What this does

Companies do not pick addresses at random. Most use one pattern, such as first.last@ or flast@, and a second for older accounts. If you know the pattern and a name, you can build the address without paying for a finder.

This lookup is the cheapest in the contact family. One provider returns patterns at no charge, and the other bills a fraction of a cent. The result is a pattern, not an address, so check a built address with a verifier before you send.

You give: a company domain. Example: example.com.

## What differs between providers

- Tomba (tomba-email-format): returns the patterns a domain uses, such as first.last@, and is free.
- The Companies API (thecompaniesapi-companies-email-patterns): takes a domain and lets you set an email count and a precision level to refine the answer.

## Before you start

- A pattern is a guess about one person. Build the address from it, then verify it before you send anything.
- Large companies often run several patterns, one per brand or per acquired firm. Ask for every pattern and test the likeliest first.
- Small domains have little data. A short list or an empty answer means the provider has seen few addresses there.
- Store the pattern with the domain. One lookup serves every person at that company, so your agent should keep it and reuse it instead of paying again.

## Prompt

Use looot to find the email format that example.com uses, such as first.last@, and list any second pattern it also uses. 1. Set up https://looot.ai/skill.md. 2. Search the catalog for each step and check its price before you call. 3. Run the cheapest endpoint that fits. 4. Show the results as a table and the total cost.

## Steps and providers

- Look up the email pattern: tomba, thecompaniesapi. 1 call per domain.

## What comes back

- Email pattern such as first.last
- Share of addresses that use it
- Other patterns in use

## The request and what comes back

Each run is one POST to /v1/runs with an endpoint id and an input. These are illustrative calls with generic values. The run's result holds the provider's own fields.

- Tomba: {"endpointId":"tomba-email-format","input":{"domain":"example.com"},"wait":30}
- The Companies API: {"endpointId":"thecompaniesapi-companies-email-patterns","input":{"domain":"example.com"},"wait":30}

## Which email patterns are the most common?

Common patterns are first.last, first, flast and first_last at the company domain. A provider returns the ones it has seen for this domain, so you do not have to guess. Your agent tests the likeliest first.

## How do I find a company's email format?

Send the company's domain to an email-format endpoint. The answer is the pattern or patterns the domain uses, such as first.last@example.com. Your agent can then build an address for any name.

## Is it free to find a company's email format?

One provider here returns the patterns at no charge. The other bills a small amount per lookup. The live prices on this page show the current state.

## Is a built email address reliable?

Not on its own. A pattern tells you how the company usually forms addresses, not that this mailbox exists. Run the address through a verifier before you send.

## What if a domain has more than one pattern?

Both providers can return several. Your agent builds one address per pattern and verifies each. The first one that passes is the one to use.

## How much does one domain cost?

You pay per call, and the price depends on the provider your agent picks. This page reads the cheapest live price from the catalog and shows no number when the catalog is unreachable.

## Do I pay when a company email format call fails?

No. A call that fails at the provider costs nothing, and your agent can retry it or send it to another provider.

## Do I need an account with each company email format provider?

No. One looot key reaches every provider in the catalog. You top up once, and each call is billed at the price shown before it runs.

## How do I call company email format from code?

Send a POST to /v1/runs with the endpoint id, the input and a new idempotency key, and your looot token in the Authorization header. With wait set to 30, the answer comes back in the response when the run ends within 30 seconds. Otherwise poll GET /v1/runs/<runId>.

## Can I run company email format on a schedule?

That needs scheduled runs, not available yet. Run it by hand whenever you want fresh results.

## Do I pay while my agent is idle?

No. looot bills per call, and nothing runs while your agent is idle.
