Semrush / Trends: Subdomains

The Subdomains report displays the traffic to the top subdomains of the selected website. This helps you identify the most popular sections of the website. Even if a response is empty, the cost of one request will still be deducted from your API units. About the Subfolders & Subdomains dashboard › Semrush charges 1 API unit per request from the separate Trends unit balance. Needs the Trends Premium plan only. Semrush answers CSV with semicolons.

Request parameters

country query · optional
The country code parameter lets you filter traffic data for a particular country. If the parameter isn't specified, global data is shown by default. To define a country code, use the ISO 3166-1 code reference , column Alpha-2 code . Example: "US"
device_type query · optional
This parameter lets you choose whether to retrieve desktop or mobile data. If the parameter isn't specified, data for all devices is shown by default.
display_date query · optional
Date in the YYYY-MM-01 format. If the display_date parameter isn't specified, data from the previous month is shown by default. The minimum value is 2017-01-01 and the maximum is the beginning of the previous month. For example, if today is June 19, 2024, you can use 2024-05-01 . Example: "2025-08-01"
display_limit query · optional
Number of results returned per request. If this parameter isn't specified, the default value is 1000 . Maximum value is 5000 . This limit applies per request only. To retrieve additional results, use this parameter together with display_offset .
display_offset query · optional
This parameter lets you skip a specified number of results before sending a report. Used for pagination together with display_limit . If this parameter isn't specified, the default value is 0 . There is no range for the parameter.
export_columns query · optional
This parameter lets you get only the columns with the data you need. Specify the required columns separating them by a comma. If this parameter isn't specified, all columns are shown by default, except for target_type . Allowed columns: domain, display_date, country, device_type, target_type, subdomain, traffic_share, desktop_share, mobile_share, total_visits, desktop_visits, mobile_visits, total_users, desktop_users, mobile_users, total_hits, desktop_hits, mobile_hits
sort_order query · optional
This parameter lets you sort the data. For descending order, append _desc ; for ascending order, append _asc . If this parameter isn't specified, data is shown in descending order by default. Allowed bases: traffic desktop_share mobile_share
target query · required
Root domain. To analyze a subdomain or subfolder, use the target_type parameter. Example: "golang.org"
target_type query · optional
Type of the analyzed target. If this parameter isn't specified, the default value is domain .
