Semrush / Trends: Industry Categories

The Industry Categories report provides a list of all domains within specific industry categories. With this data, you can gain insights on domains that fit within unique industry categories to better understand their distinctive features and trends. Even if a response is empty, the cost of one request will still be deducted from your API units. About the Market Overview dashboard › Semrush charges 500 API units per request from the separate Trends unit balance. Needs the Trends Premium plan only. Semrush answers CSV with semicolons.

Request parameters

category query · required
Category name from the list of 110 categories. For example, human_resources . Refer to Industry categories to find the list of all available values along with the corresponding Market Overview business categories. Example: "human_resources"
country query · optional
The country code parameter lets you check traffic data filtered for a particular country. To define a country code, use the ISO 3166-1 code reference , column Alpha-2 code . Example: "US"
display_date query · optional
Date in the YYYY-MM-01 format. If the display_date parameter isn't specified, data from the previous month is shown by default. The minimum value is 2017-01-01 , and the maximum is the beginning of the current month. For example, if today is June 19, 2024, use 2024-06-01 . Example: "2025-08-01"
display_limit query · optional
Number of results returned per request. Maximum value is 5000 . This limit applies per request only. To retrieve additional results, use this parameter together with display_offset .
display_offset query · optional
This parameter lets you skip a specified number of results before sending a report. Used for pagination together with display_limit . Maximum value is 10000 .
export_columns query · optional
This parameter lets you get only the columns with the data you need. Specify the required columns separating them by a comma. If this parameter isn't specified, all columns are shown by default. Allowed columns: domain_name, total_traffic, direct_traffic, referral_traffic, search_organic_traffic, search_paid_traffic, social_organic_traffic, social_paid_traffic, email_traffic, display_ad_traffic, ai_assistants_traffic, ai_search_traffic, facebook_traffic, youtube_traffic, pinterest_traffic, in...
