# Stocks and crypto data API for AI agents

looot lists the market data operations of several providers in one catalog. An agent reads end-of-day and intraday stock prices, company fundamentals, dividend and earnings calendars, index and exchange data, crypto quotes and market news, with the price of each call shown first.

## Jobs an agent does

- Pull end-of-day history for a list of tickers.
- Read a company's fundamentals before writing a note.
- Check the earnings and dividend calendar for a week.
- Quote a coin's price, market cap and volume.
- Follow market and crypto news for a watchlist.

## Operations by job

- Crypto prices and metadata: Latest price, market cap and volume for coins, listings, categories, exchanges and conversion.
- Market news: News articles for the market and for crypto.
- Credit risk: Sovereign and corporate credit risk series from EODHD.
- Earnings, dividends and events: Calendars for earnings, dividends, splits and IPOs, and economic events.
- Fundamentals and filings: Company fundamentals, balance sheet data and SEC concept disclosures.
- Indices and exchanges: Index data, exchange details and ticker lists.
- Prices and history: End-of-day and intraday prices, history, commodities and currencies.

## How the providers differ

EODHD is the broad one: end-of-day, intraday and real-time prices, fundamentals, calendars, news, CBOE indices, macro series and credit risk. Marketstack covers end-of-day and intraday prices, exchanges, commodities, currencies, dividends and splits, and SEC company facts by CIK. CoinMarketCap covers crypto only. These are market data operations, not advice, and they do not place trades.

## Prompt

Use looot to get the last ten end-of-day closes for AAPL and the current price and market cap of bitcoin, and show the price of each call before you run it. Setup is in skill.md.

## What market data can an agent read?

End-of-day and intraday stock prices, history, fundamentals, dividends, splits, earnings and IPO calendars, indices, exchanges, commodities, currencies, crypto quotes and market news.

## Can the agent trade or place orders?

No. These are read operations for data. They do not place orders or move money.

## Which provider covers crypto?

CoinMarketCap covers listings, quotes, metadata, categories, exchanges and price conversion. A news operation covers crypto news as well.

## How do I get fundamentals for a company?

Use the EODHD fundamentals operation with a ticker and a filter for the section you want, such as the balance sheet. Marketstack has company facts and concept disclosures by CIK.

## Is there live data or only end of day?

Both exist. Marketstack lists intraday operations, and EODHD lists real-time, intraday and end-of-day operations. Check the description of each operation for its delay and coverage.

## Why two stock data providers?

Their coverage and endpoints differ. EODHD is wider on fundamentals, calendars and credit risk. Marketstack adds commodities, currencies and SEC data. Compare on the fields you need and the price.

## How does my agent call a Stocks and crypto operation?

It connects to looot once, searches the catalog for the job, reads the input fields and the price, then runs the operation. Setup takes one line from skill.md, and the same key works for every provider.

## How is a Stocks and crypto call billed?

Per call, at the price shown on this page for that operation. The agent sees the price before the run, and the run is recorded with its cost in your ledger.

## Where do I find the full input and output fields?

Each operation has a reference page on docs.looot.ai with its input fields, an example call and the response. The For agents card on this page links the cheapest ones.

## Are the prices on this page current?

They are read from the live looot catalog every few minutes, so they change when a provider changes its price. When the catalog cannot be read, the page shows no numbers.

## Which Stocks and crypto operation should I start with?

Start with the cheapest operation in the job you need, which is listed first in its group. Check that it returns the fields your agent reads, and switch to another provider if it does not.
