# YouTube thumbnail downloader: run it free, or from your agent

Every thumbnail size of a YouTube video, from full HD down to the smallest, with direct image links.

## Prompt

Use looot to collect the thumbnails and titles of these YouTube videos: [links]. 1. Set up https://looot.ai/skill.md. 2. Build each thumbnail link from the video id: https://img.youtube.com/vi/ID/maxresdefault.jpg, falling back to hqdefault.jpg. 3. Find a YouTube video details endpoint in the catalog for the titles and check its price. 4. Return a table of title, video link and thumbnail link.

## What it needs

A YouTube video link or video id

## What comes back

- thumbnail at each size
- pixel size
- direct image link
- video id

## Endpoints and providers

None. The tool on the web page runs in the browser and calls no endpoint.

## What it costs

Nothing. The tool on the web page runs in the visitor's browser: no account, no API call and no limit per hour. The prompt above runs the same job from your own looot account with current data, billed per call.

## Design reference

Save the thumbnails of top videos in your niche to study what works.

## Blog embeds

Use the full size image as a cover when you write about a video.

## Check your own

See how your thumbnail looks at the small sizes YouTube shows in lists.

## Bulk with an agent

Give your agent a list of links and get every thumbnail link back.

## How do I download a YouTube thumbnail?

Paste the video link in the box. Every size appears at once. Open the size you want with its link, then save the image from your browser.

## What sizes does YouTube store?

Up to five standard sizes: maxres at 1280x720, sd at 640x480, hq at 480x360, mq at 320x180 and the default at 120x90. The page shows all five.

## Why is the largest size missing?

YouTube only makes the maxres image when the uploaded video or custom thumbnail is large enough. When it is missing, YouTube serves a small grey placeholder, and the page marks that size as not available.

## Does it work for Shorts?

Yes. Paste a Shorts link or a youtu.be link and the page reads the video id from it.

## Is it free?

Yes. It runs in your browser with no account and no limit. Your browser loads the images straight from YouTube.

## Can I use the thumbnail anywhere?

The thumbnail belongs to the video's creator. Use it to refer to the video, and ask the creator before you reuse it in your own work.

## Can I get the video title too?

Not on this page. The prompt above sends your agent to a video details endpoint in the catalog for titles.
