# Phone carrier lookup: run it free, or from your agent

Valid flag, line type, region, time zone and carrier (when known) for one phone number.

## Prompt

Use looot to check these phone numbers: [paste numbers with country codes, one per line]. 1. Set up https://looot.ai/skill.md. 2. Search the catalog for a phone validation endpoint and check its price before you call. 3. Run it once per number. 4. Return a table of number, valid, line type, carrier and country, and give the total cost.

## What it needs

A phone number with its country code

## What comes back

- valid number flag
- carrier name, when the provider has it
- line type: mobile, landline, VoIP and more
- country, region and time zone
- E.164, international and local formats

## Endpoints and providers

- tomba: tomba-phone-validator

## What it costs

The tool on the web page runs live at no cost to you and is limited per hour. The results come from public data through looot. For heavier or repeated use, run the same job from your own looot account: looot bills per call and charges nothing while your agent is idle. The live price comes from the catalog and shows on the web page.

## Route calls and texts

Send texts only to mobile numbers and call landlines from the dialer.

## Clean contact lists

Flag invalid numbers and put every number in one format before an import.

## Call at the right hour

Read the time zone of a number before you dial it.

## Check a sign-up

See whether a number someone gave you is valid and what kind of line it is.

## How do I find the carrier of a phone number?

Type the number with its country code in the box at the top of this page. The lookup returns the carrier when the provider has it, along with the line type and region.

## Is this phone carrier lookup free?

Yes. Each lookup in the box costs you nothing and is limited per hour. For a list of numbers, your agent runs the same lookup from your own looot account at the per-call price shown above.

## Why is the carrier missing for my number?

The provider does not have a carrier name for every number, and numbers moved to another carrier may show the old one or none. The line type and region still come back.

## Can it tell a mobile number from a landline?

Yes, when the number range says so. In some countries, such as the US, mobile and landline numbers share ranges, so the answer reads landline or mobile.

## What format should the number be in?

Start with + and the country code, such as +44 20 7946 0000. Spaces, dashes and brackets are fine. Without the +, fill in the two letter country code.

## Does the lookup call or text the number?

No. It reads numbering data only. Nothing is sent to the phone.

## How do I run this from an agent with looot?

Give your agent the skill.md link from the prompt above. It calls the tomba-phone-validator endpoint with the phone field, and country_code when the number has no +, then reads the result.

## Can I look up a list of numbers?

Yes, from your agent. One call covers one number and the agent loops over the list, then shows the total cost.
