# Markdown to HTML converter: run it free, or from your agent

Converts Markdown to HTML with a live preview, GitHub tables and task lists, heading ids and a full .html download.

## Prompt

Use looot to turn a web page into a clean HTML snippet for my newsletter. 1. Set up https://looot.ai/skill.md. 2. Search the catalog for an endpoint that returns a page as markdown and check its price before you call. 3. Fetch [URL] as markdown. 4. Keep the main article only. 5. Convert it to HTML with headings, lists and links, and no scripts or inline styles.

## What it needs

Markdown text

## What comes back

- HTML fragment
- live preview
- full HTML document

## Endpoints and providers

None. The tool on the web page runs in the browser and calls no endpoint.

## What it costs

Nothing. The tool on the web page runs in the visitor's browser: no account, no API call and no limit per hour. The prompt above runs the same job from your own looot account with current data, billed per call.

## Publish a README

Turn a README or a changelog into HTML for a docs site or an email.

## Render agent output

Preview the Markdown an LLM wrote before you paste it into a page.

## CMS without Markdown

Paste HTML into an editor that only takes HTML.

## Check formatting

See whether a table or a nested list renders the way you meant.

## How do I convert Markdown to HTML?

Paste the Markdown in the left box. The preview and the HTML update as you type. Copy HTML gives the fragment, and the .html download wraps it in a full page with light styles.

## Which Markdown features are supported?

Headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, inline code, fenced and indented code blocks, links, reference links, images, block quotes, ordered, unordered and nested lists and horizontal rules. From GitHub Markdown: tables with alignment, task lists, strikethrough and bare links.

## Is raw HTML in Markdown kept?

No. Raw HTML tags are escaped and shown as text. That keeps the output safe to paste into a page, since a pasted script tag can never run.

## Are links safe?

Links keep http, https, mailto and relative targets. Any other scheme, such as javascript:, is replaced with #.

## Does it add ids to headings?

Yes, when Heading ids is on. Ids follow GitHub's style: lower case, punctuation dropped, spaces as hyphens, and a number added to repeats.

## Does it follow CommonMark exactly?

It covers the common cases, not every edge case of the CommonMark spec. Lazy continuation lines and some nesting of quotes inside lists can render differently from a full parser such as markdown-it.

## Is the preview safe for untrusted Markdown?

Yes. The preview renders inside a sandboxed frame with scripts turned off, on top of the escaping.

## Is my text uploaded?

No. Rendering happens in your browser.
