# Latitude and longitude finder: run it free, or from your agent

Latitude and longitude of an address, in decimal and DMS, or the address of a pair of coordinates.

## Prompt

Use looot to geocode these addresses: [paste addresses, one per line]. 1. Set up https://looot.ai/skill.md. 2. Search the catalog for a geocoding endpoint and check its price before you call. 3. Run it once per address. 4. Return a table of address, latitude, longitude and the matched address, flag any address that matched only a city, and give the total cost.

## What it needs

An address or place name, or a latitude and longitude

## What comes back

- latitude and longitude in decimal degrees
- latitude and longitude in degrees, minutes and seconds
- full address
- country
- time zone
- a map link

## Endpoints and providers

- opencage: opencage-json

## What it costs

The tool on the web page runs live at no cost to you and is limited per hour. The results come from public data through looot. For heavier or repeated use, run the same job from your own looot account: looot bills per call and charges nothing while your agent is idle. The live price comes from the catalog and shows on the web page.

## Pin a place on a map

Get the exact coordinates to paste into a map, an app or a spreadsheet.

## Reverse geocode

Paste coordinates from a photo or a device and read the street address.

## Prepare map data

Have your agent add latitude and longitude to every row of an address list.

## Check a time zone

See the time zone of a place before you book a call there.

## How do I find the latitude and longitude of an address?

Type the address in the box at the top of this page. You get the coordinates in decimal degrees and in degrees, minutes and seconds, with a map link.

## How do I find the address from coordinates?

Paste the latitude first, then the longitude, split by a comma, such as 40.7484, -73.9857. The tool returns the nearest address it knows.

## Is this latitude and longitude finder free?

Yes. Each lookup in the box costs you nothing and is limited per hour. For a list, your agent runs the same lookup from your own looot account at the per-call price shown above.

## What is the difference between decimal and DMS?

Decimal degrees write a position as one number, such as 40.7484. DMS splits it into degrees, minutes and seconds with N, S, E or W. Both point to the same place.

## How precise are the coordinates?

It depends on what matched. A full street address usually lands on the building, a city name lands on the center of the city. The address on the card shows what matched.

## Where does the data come from?

From OpenStreetMap, geocoded by OpenCage. The result card shows the OpenStreetMap credit and a link to its licence, as the data licence asks.

## How do I run this from an agent with looot?

Give your agent the skill.md link from the prompt above. It calls the opencage-json endpoint with q set to the address or the coordinates, then reads geometry and formatted from the first result.
