# Domain availability checker: run it free, or from your agent

Check if a domain name is registered or free, with a yes or no answer from WhoisXML.

## Prompt

Use looot to check which of these domain names are free to register: [names]. 1. Set up https://looot.ai/skill.md. 2. Find a domain availability endpoint in the catalog and check its price before you call. 3. Run it once per name, with the full ending such as .com. 4. Return a table of name and available or registered, and give the total cost.

## What it needs

A full domain name, such as mybrand.com

## What comes back

- the domain
- available or registered
- what the check used

## Endpoints and providers

- whoisxml: whoisxml-domain-availability

## What it costs

The tool on the web page runs live at no cost to you and is limited per hour. The results come from public data through looot. For heavier or repeated use, run the same job from your own looot account: looot bills per call and charges nothing while your agent is idle. The live price comes from the catalog and shows on the web page.

## Name a product

Test the names on your shortlist and drop the ones that are already taken before you fall in love with one.

## Pick an ending

Check the same name in .com, .io and .ai and see which endings are still open.

## Search without a store

Check a name on a page that does not sell domains, so your search is not a lead for a reseller.

## Agent name lists

Give your agent fifty name ideas and get back only the ones you can register.

## How do I check if a domain name is available?

Type the full name, with its ending, in the box at the top of this page and run it. The answer says yes when no registration was found, or no when the name is registered.

## Where does the answer come from?

From the WhoisXML domain availability service. By default it checks the DNS records of the name, which is fast and right for most names.

## Is a domain that shows as available always free to buy?

Almost always, but not every time. A name can be registered with no DNS records, or be reserved or premium at the registry. The checkout at a registrar is the final word, so check there before you plan around a name.

## Do you buy or reserve the names I search?

No. looot does not sell domains and does not keep the names you type. The check goes through a looot account made for these tools and shows in its run log.

## Which endings can I check?

Any ending that has a public registry, such as .com, .net, .org, .io, .ai or a country ending like .de. Type the full name each time.

## What should I do if the name is taken?

Run the WHOIS lookup on this site to see the registrar and the expiry date. A name close to expiry may free up, and the registrar can tell you if the owner sells.

## Is this domain name search free?

Yes. Each run on this page costs you nothing and is limited per hour. For a long list of names, your agent runs the same endpoint on your own looot account at the per-call price shown above.

## How do I run this from an agent?

Copy the prompt above into your agent with the looot skill.md link. It picks the availability endpoint, checks the price and returns one row per name.
