# Best news API: ranked by live price

The best news API depends on the source and the controls you need. For plain headlines by keyword, the cheapest call wins. For publisher filters, country, raw HTML or market and crypto news, pick the provider that has them. This page ranks the looot catalog providers by live price per call.

## Providers

- anyapi: Searches Google News by keyword and returns headlines, sources, links and publish times. The catalog lists no snippet field for it.
- anysite: Searches Google News by keyword and returns title, source, source domain, date, snippet and link. It can limit results to one publisher, exclude words, require an exact phrase and set a period.
- brave-search: Returns news articles from Brave's own index, with country, language and freshness settings. It is not Google News, so the article set is not the same.
- cloro: Returns parsed Google News articles for a keyword from a chosen country, with title, link, snippet, publisher, date and thumbnail. Each extra page of results is billed on top of the first.
- dataforseo: Returns Google News results live, with titles, sources, dates and snippets, plus a raw HTML variant. Each request is a list of tasks that carry a keyword, a location and a language. Also: Google News advanced, Raw HTML.
- newsdata-io: Returns the most recent articles from the past 48 hours. This endpoint takes no date range, so it does not suit a search through older coverage. Also: Crypto news, Market news, Sources.

## How we rank

Every provider here has a news search endpoint in the looot catalog.

We rank by the price per call of that endpoint, read live from the catalog. A cheaper call ranks higher.

The catalog does not publish a measured success rate for these endpoints, so this page does not rank by one and quotes none.

Most of these endpoints read Google News and one reads another index. The ranking compares price, not coverage or freshness.

Extras are other news endpoints the provider has in the catalog. More extras does not mean better results.

Providers outside the looot catalog are not ranked.

## Choosing one

- Limit to one publisher, exclude words or require an exact phrase: anysite
- Choose the country and get thumbnails and publishers: cloro
- Control location and language, or get the raw HTML: dataforseo
- News from an index that is not Google News: brave-search
- Crypto or market news and a list of news sources: newsdata-io

## Prompt

Use looot to find this week's news about my company: call the cheapest news search endpoint with my company name, list the title, source and date of each article, and tell me the total cost. 1. Set up https://looot.ai/skill.md. 2. Search the catalog for each step and check its price before you call. 3. Run the cheapest endpoint that fits. 4. Show the results as a table and the total cost.

## What is the best news API?

It depends on the job. This page ranks the looot catalog providers by live price per call for news articles by keyword. Pick the cheapest for plain headlines, or the provider with the filters or source you need.

## What is the cheapest news API?

The first row of the ranking above, read live from the catalog. Prices can change, so the page reads them on each refresh and shows no number when the catalog is unreachable.

## Is there a free news API?

This page ranks priced endpoints. Free tiers, where a vendor has one, sit on the vendor's own plan page and are outside looot.

## What are the best NewsAPI alternatives?

NewsAPI is not in the looot catalog, so this page does not rank it. The providers above return news articles for a keyword, and your agent can call any of them with one key.

## What is a news search API?

A service that takes a keyword and returns matching news articles as structured data. An article usually carries a title, a source, a date and a link. Some add a snippet or a thumbnail.

## What does a news API return?

A list of articles. The verdict on each row says which fields that provider lists in the catalog. Fields differ, so a snippet or a thumbnail is not guaranteed across providers.

## Can I search news from one publisher only?

Yes, with a provider that supports it. The choices above name the one in the catalog that limits results to a single publisher.

## Can I get news about crypto or the stock market?

Yes. One provider in the catalog has crypto and market news endpoints, shown as extras in the ranking.

## How do I monitor news about a competitor?

Search the competitor's name, then read the new articles. Doing it on a timer needs scheduled runs, not available yet, so run it by hand when you want a fresh check.

## How does an agent call a news API?

Paste the prompt on this page into your agent. It sets up looot, finds the news endpoint, checks the price and runs the cheapest one that fits. Your agent calls it through one connection with no UI.

## Why does this page not show success rates?

The catalog does not publish a measured success rate for these endpoints. We would rather rank by a number we can read than quote one we cannot.

## Do I pay while my agent is idle?

No. looot bills per call, and nothing runs while your agent is idle.
